titwrench bangover

today my neck hurts from headbanging – yes, i did it and i’m not ashamed.  after a weekend of music on the less brutal side of things i kind of lost it when DRIPFED took the stage.  i was a bit lit on whiskey too.

tiwrench was amazing this year.  some other highlights include NIGHT OF JOY and HOT WHITE, both denver bands that played friday night.  on saturday i caught a great set by VIA and last night i enjoyed LISA FRANK in addition to DRIPFED.  there were more, but i’d have to look at my schedule to remember them.  not only does my neck hurt, but my entire head as well.

i was glad to table with the distro.  for the past year or so i’ve shirked dragging the distro out to shows and instead have just put records at the blast-o-mat record store.  although the record store is good deal for both of us – blasto gets a bulkier selection and growler stuff is available anytime there is a show, which is most nights – i was reminded why tabling is so enjoyable while at titwrench.  i had interface with music fans.  i met and reconnected with a lot of people.  i sold records and got recommendations for many more.  it was the pleasure of running a record distro that i’d been missing.

my weekend was full of stimulation and excitement.  tonight i’m taking it easy and starting season 2 of THE WIRE then going to bed early.

About Growler Distro

Growler Distro, or Growler Record Store, are the same thing: a project aimed at selling records, tapes, CDs, CDRs, zines, books, and cool handmade trinkets in Denver, CO, which I'm proud to say is my home. My name is Molly and I've been tabling at punk shows since 2006 and now I'm expanding to a brick and mortar shop at 742 Santa Fe Drive. (Days and hours TBA) I've always loved underground music for it's freshness and honesty and I want you to feel like you can discover a gem as well. I believe that music brings people together much like a well-prepared meal can. And, I think that underground music and literature often talk about the things in life most important to you, whether that be disenchantment with the state of things or a truly broken heart. I carry a lot of different styles of music, so don't limit yourself to one definition of what underground or punk might mean to you. Growler Record Store has music for quiet, contemplative rainy days, dance parties, and even for the apocalypse. I have music made by women, queers, people of color, and in many different languages. You will find your voice as expressed by talented musicians, just the way it was meant to be. And you will likely leave feeling inspired by and connected to your fellow humans. 1. yo, nice to meet you at titwrench (which was a totally f***ing awesome time – I didn’t want to leave) – and please also enjoy watching The Wire – which is definitely I would say one of the best television shows I can think of.
